EPISODE DESCRIPTION
BIBLE SCIENCE BOOKS FOR CHILDREN by Louise Barrett Derr
Experiencing Bible Science: A Resource for Preschool; Experiencing Bible Science for the Young at Heart; and Experiencing Bible Science for Children
Louise Barrett Derr received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UNC–Chapel Hill. For twenty-six years she taught in North Carolina public schools. Mrs. Derr developed and presented her curricula for gifted children at numerous state and national teachers conferences. This author is also a motorcyclist, private airplane pilot, and scuba diver, who enjoys gardening and nature study. She has previously been active in Boy Scouts and the Civil Air Patrol. Traveling in eighteen countries around the world has given her a desire to see children everywhere discover science in the Scriptures.
Mrs. Derr became a Christian in 1974 and was discipled in a Bible-centered church. She and her husband, Harry, moved to Waxhaw, North Carolina, in 1999 to volunteer at the JAARS Center, supporting Wycliffe Bible Translators. Here she learned the skill of digital audio recording and is now sharing the vision of providing non-print media for oral cultures.

In Experiencing Bible Science: A Lab Book for the Young at Heart there is an error in the metric measurements on page 74. In the Salt Dough recipe it should read, “Mix 2 cups (500ml) flour and 1/2 cup (120ml) salt together. Add about 3/4 cups (180ml) warm water.” Make this change in your book.

In 1611 the King James Version of the Holy Bible became available. It is the most popular translation of the Bible in history. See the website: www.kjv400celebration.com.
The Experiencing Bible Science books use the King James Version of the Bible. The children’s version has 110 Scripture references listed in the “Index of Scriptures.” The young-at-heart version has over 1500 Scripture references. Words that may not be familiar in today’s vocabulary are rephrased in brackets [ ]. Since the references are given for all these Scriptures, use the translation you prefer when working in the books. Each Scripture reference is marked with an open-book icon.
Enjoy discovering the science in your Bible.
